Book of the Day: Hitler Youth by Susan Campbell Bartoletti

The story of a generation of German young people who devoted all their energy to the Hitler Youth and the propaganda that gave Hitler his power, and the youths that resisted the Nazi movement.
Put this one here because it is the day before Thanksgiving. After reading this book, you really start to think about all the great things for which we can be thankful. It is a very distrubing read, but this non-fiction account of the youth who followed Adolf Hitler will really make you think. This book won the 2006 Caroline W. Field Award, which was given out last week here in Pittsburgh. Every year the Pennsylvania Library Association gives an award to the best book, written or illustrated by someone from Pennsylvania. Maybe some day one YOUR books will win one!
